The big MRT debate 2.0

In the early years while the government was mulling over building the initial MRT system, there was a huge debate over the mode of public transport to be chosen. Some recommended an all-bus system while others recommended going for grade-separated railways. Eventually the planners for the grade-separated railway system won the decision and we have what we know as our MRT system today.

Several decades later we are discussing once again about the MRT and a major decision. This time it is not about the mode of transport but instead about the route of one of the lines. A decision on whether to cut through a nature reserve or to go around it. There are pros and cons for each option which have to be duly weighed out. Follow us as we discover the good side and bad side of each proposed option in the days to come.
