N109A - Teck Ghee Q1 2023 update

19 March 2023 - An overview of the construction site of the station.

Teck Ghee was the first station whose civil contract was awarded under contract N109A, which was bundled together with construction works for the North-South Expressway project. The expressway tunnels will eventually sit on top of the station's roof slab, with the concourse & platform located below. We checked out how things were progressing at the contract N109A site mid-March.

19 March 2023 - A view of capping beam being constructed at the top
of the secant bored pile wall.

19 March 2023 - An aerial view of the site where the future rectangular
tunnel boring machine (RTBM) will be launched.

To the south of the station, 2 exits will open up inside Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, allowing commuters to access the public green facility on either side of Marymount Road. To construct the connecting subways, a rectangular tunnel boring machine (RTBM) will be used. The RTBM will be launched from 2 spots towards the south of the station box, drilling beneath Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 before bursting out into the retrieval shaft within the park. Works to construct the launch shafts have yet to begin.

19 March 2023 - Looking southwards to Marymount Road. The open cut excavation is for the
expressway tunnels as the station box would have ended before the road junction.

19 March 2023 - A view of the opposite side of the road where another RTBM will be launched.

Further up north, some excavation work can be seen to have taken place. However these are further north than the station box limits and are likely to be for the expressway works. We anticipate that the works further to the south will involve the construction of a layer of traffic decking before a road diversion is carried out to shift the roadway further west. This will enable the eastern bored piles to be constructed to complete the earth retaining & stabilising structure (ERSS) necessary before excavation to the base level can begin.

19 March 2023 - To the north, there is some open cut excavation in progress. This is north
of the station box however, which ends around the block in red in the image.

19 March 2023 - Another view of ongoing works at the site.

19 March 2023 - A long view of the stretch of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6
that is under construction. The contract CR116 launch shaft site is in
view to the left, near the road junction.

19 March 2023 - An aerial view from lower down, allowing a closer look
at the ongoing construction work.

Works are well underway with the western wall of bored piles already completed. Do stay tuned as we provide periodic updates for the different stations along the CRL1.
