CR116 - Ang Mo Kio progress as at Q1 2023

19 March 2023

On 19th March, the team took some time to visit a few of the Cross Island Line (CRL) phase 1 sites to check in on how the sites have progressed. Similar to the updates on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) stages 4 and 5, we hope to do the same for the CRL 1 stations. We've kicked it off with some updates on Hougang and contract CR115's launch shaft, so here's an update for Ang Mo Kio.

The station is located linearly along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, with some ventilation buildings expected to be located on the side of the town garden, near the police post. Several additional exits will pop up along this side of the station, with a further 2 across Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, just outside the HDB estate and outside AMK Hub. Work site clearing is the main activity at all these locations, with one of the sites receiving a hydrofraise machine for set up.

Some modifications will likely be made to accommodate emergency
escape stairs and other facilities at this end.

Additionally, near the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenues 3 and 6 is a site for the intermediate launch shaft. Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) will be launched here for tunneling towards Teck Ghee station. Thereafter, the TBM will be used to tunnel towards Ang Mo Kio station in the other direction. Diaphragm wall works have completed here and work seems to be focused on soil improvement for excavation.

Construction of the diaphragm walls have been completed and the
machinery has been redeployed.

As works along CRL1 are not as advanced as those along TEL4/5, we will not be coming up with a CRL Tracker for the time being.
