CRL1 Project Information Centre - now open!

Recently, the Cross Island Line (CRL) phase 1's Project Information Centre (PIC) has been opened to the public. Operating hours for the PIC are during weekdays during office hours. Do note that you will need to get in touch with the Public Relations Officer to secure a slot before heading down so that the PIC will be manned during your visit. Not doing so may result in disappointment should the officer be engaged and unable to open the centre for you. Nonetheless, the team paid a visit to the PIC today and are here to relay what you can find once you are there.

Where is the PIC located?
The PIC is located within Hougang Town. Specifically, it is located at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road & Hougang Central, next to block 805. The entrance to the area can be found along Hougang Central. The PIC is within walking distance of both Hougang MRT & bus interchange, as well as bus stops along Upper Serangoon Road.

What can you see at the PIC?

• There are digital displays that replace the former printed project boards explaining about the various projects.
• Scale models of the stations are available for viewing.
• Scale models of some tunnel boring machines are available for viewing.
• There are displays on the soil types, instrumentation used for monitoring & personal protective equipment worn by workers at the site.

for CRL1. Did you know that the CRL will not be the first to use an OCR system? The
North East Line extension will also make use of this method of supplying power to trains.

90km/h. This is similar to that of the North East Line.

There is a virtual reality demonstration, however this particular exhibit requires a bit more time before it is ready for the public to enjoy. As such, it will only be available at a later date.

If you are free, do contact the team so that you can make a visit over to the PIC to learn more about CRL1. The models allow you can gain a better understanding of how thing stack up at the various CRL1 stations and the lighting introduced is a pleasing manner of telling the lines apart.
