Overview of CPE stations as at April 2026.
Top: CP2 - Elias
Middle: CP3 - Riviera
Bottom: CP4 - Punggol |
We're beginning the April snapshots with a recap of the Cross Island Line's Punggol Extension (CPE) where things are beginning to ramp up as tunneling works for the entire length of the phase commence. Station works have also progressed at the three station sites under this phase of the line. Find out more as we cover the brief summary of progress made at each station site.
Punggol Extension
Some major milestones for the section of line pertain to tunneling works. Under contract P102, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) has been lowered into the shaft for commencement of tunneling works towards Pasir Ris station. The single TBM will perform double duty as it bores both bounds under the contract. Over at contract P103, TBM Elizabeth had reached the boundary with Riviera station. This large diameter TBM will tunnel her way through the future station box and continue on its first drive towards Punggol station, where it will be disassembled and reinstalled at the Pasir Ris Camp launch site for the second drive towards Elias station. Ground improvement works are currently ongoing along the length of Punggol Central between Riviera and Punggol stations ahead of tunneling works.

All stations have since had significant portions of diaphragm walls completed to retain and stabilise the earth around the station boxes. Nonetheless, the three stations were in differing stages of construction despite the completion of a fair number of diaphragm wall panels. At Elias station, roof slab casting was underway at the main station box, while at Riviera, diaphragm wall works were still continuing towards the vicinity of the LRT station. And lastly, over at Punggol, excavation works had begun at various portions of the site.

CP2 – Elias (Contract P102)
In a nutshell: Diaphragm wall works were completed for the main station box area, with the subways to the 5 station exits to follow in phases up to Q1 2027. Casting for the station's roof slab was underway, also performed in phases, due to the length of the slab to be cast. Excavation works have not yet commenced for the station. At the TBM launch shaft, the crane used to lower the TBM shields was being disassembled after the successful lowering of the various components to assemble the machine.

CP3 – Riviera (Contract P103)
In a nutshell: Diaphragm wall works were in progress towards the site of the LRT station, where future exits would be constructed and interface with the main station box. The location of the TBM sits just outside the station box, likely in a pre-determined spot to undergo some maintenance before progressing through the future station box. Excavation works have not yet commenced at the station.

CP4 – Punggol (Contract P105)
In a nutshell: Excavation works have commenced at the station at 3 separate zones - the site of future Exit 8, to the east of the existing North East Line (NEL) station and to the existing NEL station's west. A section of Punggol Walk was also recently closed to traffic as works commence for the earth retaining & stabilising structures for Exit 5, next to Waterway Terraces BTO precinct. Diaphragm wall construction works also continued along the northern edge of the over run tunnel section along Punggol Central.
