Soil Investigation: Ang Mo Kio (East)

If you happened to pass by Ang Mo Kio as of late you would have noticed intense soil investigation works going on around the vicinity of the existing MRT station and stretching along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. These are for the upcoming Cross Island Line (CRL) which will run under Avenue 3.

Soil investigation rigs have continued to be spotted as recently as April 2018 at other locations along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 where the new station is expected to be sited, on the eastern side of the existing Ang Mo Kio station. Rigs have been placed in the median of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 and next to block 587 as well. As one travels further eastwards along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, a slew of borehole markers can be traced as well.

Faded wording again indicates that the soil investigation is for the Cross Island
Line. 23 April 2018.
As the Cross Island Line project comes closer to the point of announcement, the project will move from the conceptualization of station designs to preparation of tenders. With the intensification of soil investigations, the project owners will receive more information of the soil conditions to allow the architectural and electrical consultancy firms to translate the station designs into practical drawings with conditions laid out for the eventual contractor to follow in order to construct the station. Do keep a look out as we update on more soil investigations as they ramp up along the Cross Island Line eastern leg.
