Unfortunately we didn't manage to squeeze in Defu station into our year-end recap for 2023 with the rest of the Cross Island Line (CRL) phase 1 stations. Nonetheless, better late than never, so here's our year-end recap for Defu station. Over 2023, the site was mobilised with road diversions being implemented and a work site created in the road median. The side platform station will sit here and a large diameter single bored tunnel connects the eastern end of the station box to a launch shaft near the end of Paya Lebar Air Base, under contract CR110.

Early in the year, the site was still rather unassuming with enabling works taking place - activities such as soil investigations and utility relocation were carried out during this stage. Once past the first half of the year however, the pace of work began picking up. With road diversions completed, space was created for diaphragm wall construction to begin. As a launch shaft for twin bored tunnels will be located at the station's western end, work has centred around this location first.
