As one of the earliest awarded contracts for station construction, it is likely that works at Teck Ghee station will commence earlier than other station sites along the Cross Island Line stage 1 (CRL1). Now a quiet neighbourhood along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, the dual carriageway road will soon make way for heavy construction of both the MRT station and upcoming North South Expressway.

An unfortunate side effect of the construction is that the mature trees would likely have to make way for road diversions and soil works to be carried out. Residents in the area close to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 can expect that there would be approximately 7 years of disruption to the surrounding areas once work begins on this section.
