Contract CR202 was the first civil contract awarded for the Cross Island Line (CRL)'s phase 2 section. Continuing off from the terminating point of CRL1 just beyond Bright Hill station, the contract involves the construction of a large diameter single bored tunnel connecting to Turf City station. The contract was awarded to a joint venture between Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co & Obayashi Corp in December 2022, with construction due to have begun in the first half of 2023.

A launch shaft will be located in the vicinity of the Bukit Timah Saddle Club, which was acquired in early 2023 to make way for the line's construction. Here are some images from the saddle club & Riders Cafe which used to be located in the area, which has now made way for the construction of the contract's launch shaft from when the team visited in early 2023. Several days after the final visit to the cafe, the business wound down and the site was returned to the government.

With work progressing after site possession, the area has been transformed into a typical construction site as seen in images released by Bachy Soletanche, a sub-contractor working on the project. Noise abatement barriers have been put up and betonite silos erected on site. Other heavy machinery has also moved in on site to begin preparation for the construction of the launch shaft facility.
