CRL2 - A snapshot in March 2026

Overview of CRL2 stations CR19 - CR15 & contract CR210 & CR207 sites as at March 2026.
Top (L - R): CR19 - Jurong Lake District, CR210 launch shaft
Middle (L - R): CR18 - West Coast, CR17 - Clementi, CR207 launch shaft
Bottom (L - R): CR16 - Maju, CR15 - King Albert Park

Phase 2 of the Cross Island Line (CRL) is fast approaching road diversion season. In fact, this section of the line may have already crossed the threshold into the road diversion territory, with the first major diversion having taken place at the Maju station site. Nonetheless, other sites are likewise gearing up for their diversion-eras as well. Which sites are these and which roads will be diverted? Find out all that & more after the jump!

For this update, we're working eastwards from the section's western-most end at Jurong Lake District and capping off the update at King Albert Park station.

CR19 - Jurong Lake District (Contract CR211)
In a nutshell: The open cut in which the station will sit has been making progress. Along the eastern end of the contract site, diaphragm wall works were underway while it appeared that the western end was still in the preparation phase. Recently, a new roadway connecting to the junction between Jurong Town Hall Road and Jurong East Street 12 was paved, to allow for future construction access.

Tunnels between Jurong Lake District and West Coast stations (Contract CR210)
In a nutshell: Excavation works were ongoing at the worksite adjacent to contract CR211's eastern cut & cover tunnel. The acoustic shed had since been built over the launch shaft and two gantry cranes set up to assist with hauling out the excavated earth. Preparations appear to be underway for the arrival of the tunnel boring machines.

Along Pandan Loop, a block of industrial lots was since demolished and heavy equipment set up on site for the construction of diaphragm walls. This will be where a future electrical substation will be located, supplying power to the line.

CR18 - West Coast (Contract CR209)
In a nutshell: Construction of the earth retaining & stabilising structures (ERSS) was underway through the station site. In addition, piling works were underway near the canal. These appear to be for support of a bridge across the canal. Further into the former Tanglin Secondary School site, the outlines of a roadway kerb were beginning to make an appearance, indicating that a potential road diversion may be implemented in time to come. Diverting West Coast Road would allow for the construction of the ERSS elements underneath the current alignment of the roadway.

CR17 - Clementi (Contract CR208)
In a nutshell: Very similar to neighbouring contract CR209, preparation works appear to be underway to facilitate the diversion of Clementi Avenue 4 through the project site. Here, works to facilitate the diversion are much more apparent with part of the diverted roadway already paved. At this juncture, the works on site were focused on preparation for the shifting of the roadway closer towards blocks 324 and 377. Tree felling works were carried out in the vicinity of the future Exit 5's location.

Works were also ongoing in the vicinity of the existing East-West Line (EWL) station, particularly in the area where the station extension would be built. Soil investigation works were underway here, ahead of full on construction of the extension building's foundations.

Tunnels between Clementi and Maju stations (Contract CR207)
In a nutshell: ERSS works were still underway to form the launch shaft at the location of the former East Lodge hostel. Hydrofraise machines were present on site as works continued on.

CR16 - Maju (Contract CR206)
In a nutshell: The station site was extremely busy with heavy equipment all crammed into the newly demarcated road median work site. A road diversion that was recently implemented saw the shifting of the southbound carriageway towards West Coast move further east. This allowed for the creation of a work site within the existing road median to be formed, allowing for the construction of the ERSS components on the station's western wall.
