An overview of construction progress of CRL1 stations as at 15 April 2022. |
2022 has been a busy year as all the civil contracts (stations, tunnels & associated infrastructure to run the trains) have been awarded. In total, there were 16 contracts awarded - the first being contract CR105 for the large diameter single bore tunnel between Aviation Park & Loyang stations (08 March 2021) and the latest being contract CR117 for the construction of Bright Hill interchange (30 March 2022). In view that the awarding of contracts took the span of a year to complete, various station sites are at various stages of works.
At the site of contract CR108 for Pasir Ris interchange station, major changes are about to take place. In a briefing held by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for residents, the project team consisting of representatives from LTA & the contractor informed residents of upcoming works that can be expected.

A pedestrian overhead bridge (POB) near to block 570 and Coco Palms condo was scheduled for demolition starting from 19 April 2022. Covered linkways would be temporarily extended from the site of the existing POB to the nearest signalized pedestrian crossings on either end to allow a covered connection to the crossings.

Based on Facebook postings by the Residents Committee (RC) in the area, we understand the period of works for the removal of the overhead bridge to stretch from 19 April to 31 July 2022. During this period, the POB will be hoarded off and slowly taken apart.

The team also informed briefing participants that as part of upcoming works, part of Pasir Ris Central between the existing East West Line (EWL) station and the upcoming Cross Island Line (CRL) station would be closed to facilitate works. A pedestrian path connecting the bus stop along Pasir Ris Drive 1 and the EWL station will also be closed, with alternative routes along the perimeter of the hoarded off site being available.

We understand from online postings from the RC on Facebook that this closure will be effected on 30 April 2022 (Saturday).
With all civil contracts awarded, works are now ramping up to meet the passenger service target of 2030. We wish the project team a smooth & safe project delivery and look forward to further updates.
