CR112 - Site preparation progress

 

4 November 2021 - Northern site

Contract CR112 for the construction of Hougang interchange was one of the first awarded contracts on the Cross Island Line (CRL). Successful bidder Samsung C&T won the contract and has been busy preparing the site for eventual construction.

4 November 2021 - Southern site

The station site is split into two main sections - one towards the south next to the existing Hougang bus interchange and another to the north on a reserve site that is currently a large field. Most of the work is currently taking place in the northern site, next to the large field.

At the northern site, the works had largely consisted of drainage diversion works as it is expected that sections of Hougang Central will be diverted over the course of construction. Recently, the bentonite silos that were delivered to the site have been positioned upright for eventual deployment at the site.

Meanwhile, at the southern site, a portion of the Hougang Central bus interchange extension has recently been closed off to allow works to prepare that portion of the site. A replacement facility along Hougang Avenue 4 known as Hougang Bus Park has been built and begun operations.

The site office for contract CR112 sits at the junction of Hougang Central and Upper Serangoon Road. We understand that a Project Information Centre (PIC) is co-located here and estimated to open in Q4 of this year. The team will bring you updates once the PIC is opened for visitors, hence do stay tuned and keep a look out for updates.

12 July 2022 - Bus stop bay & shelter decommissioned

Most recently, the bus stop bay and shelter along Hougang Central opposite the bus interchange have been decommissioned and replaced by an on-lane bay & temporary shelter. This signifies a further step towards moving the ground to begin excavation works for the station structure.
