CR115 - Tavistock Q1 update

23 February 2023 - Launch shaft site for contract CR115

23 February 2023 - Site office for contract CR115 at Teck Ghee Park

Contract CR115 involves the construction of Tavistock station and a launch shaft located to the west of the station, across the Central Expressway (CTE). Roadways will need to be diverted at both sites to allow for construction activities to commence. We take a closer look at the progress at the site since our last visit.

Launch Shaft site
For ease of reference & readability, we'll start at the works for the launch shaft located across the CTE from the station. Road diversions for both bounds of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 are in full effect, allowing for the path of the former roadway to be demolished to allow for the construction of the shaft. Both bounds of the road now swing closer to the HDB block to the north of the former alignment.

Once the former roadway is demolished, work will begin on the diaphragm walls of the launch shaft tunnels. It is likely that hydrofraise or clam shell grabbers will be used for this work, as some equipment can be seen at the site of the former Teck Ghee Park.

23 February 2023 - Road diversion of both bounds has been completed.

Meanwhile, over at the station site, works are in progress at various smaller sections to prepare the area for the first major road diversion. Hoarding can be seen going up and other preparatory works are taking place to allow for the eventual road diversion.

23 February 2023 - Hoarding is up near the site of future station exits.

Works have progressed visibly since the end of last year, with more trees in the vicinity cleared. Construction work to shift roads, facilities and utilities can also be clearly seen and will become even more visible with time and road diversions in place. Do stay tuned as we continue to bring you more updates on the various station sites.
