Work at Teck Ghee station's site is progressing with the excavation of the western half of the tunnels for the North-South Expressway underway. Looking at the work taking place, it may be likely that the structure on the western side will be completed before earth is back-filled on top of the roof slab and work begins on work for the eastern half's structure. At this point, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 which travels right on top of the future tunnels has been pushed to the eastern side to allow for sufficient space to create a work site on the western side which is where the tunnels are being constructed.
Rebar has been laid in parts of the excavated trench ahead of casting works. This will be for the expressway tunnel roof slab. The Cross Island Line station will be located below the expressway tunnels and feature at least 2 basement levels. From aerial views, it is obvious that a top-down method is being employed for the construction, likely due to the proximity to existing residential apartment buildings which flank either side of the project site.

In the following quarter, structures should become even more apparent following the completion of casting works. We will then be able to tell if the earth will be back-filled immediately or the trench remain open for further subterranean works. More updates to come!
