CPE - A snapshot in February 2025

A view of Riviera and Punggol Cross Island Line station sites in February 2025.

Work is well underway for the construction of the Cross Island Line - Punggol Extension (CPE) which will see the line connecting Punggol and Pasir Ris stations via a branch of the Cross Island Line (CRL). Tunneling work for the majority of the alignment will be completed by a large diameter tunnel boring machine (TBM) - named Elizabeth - from a launch shaft just next to Pasir Ris Camp. Two drives will be used, one westwards ending at Punggol and a second eastwards, ending at Elias station. Before the arrival of TBM Elizabeth, ground improvement works were being carried out along Punggol Central. Diaphragm wall construction at the two station within Punggol were also well underway ahead of the TBM's arrival in a few years' time. More details on the works taking place after the jump.

CP3 – Riviera (Contract P103)
In a nutshell: Work was ongoing for the construction of the diaphragm wall along the northern edge of the station. Along Punggol Central, street-level signalised crossings were introduced ahead of the pedestrian overhead bridge closures. Nearer towards Punggol station, ground improvement works were in full swing to prepare for the eventual arrival of TBM Elizabeth in several years' time. Similar works were also taking place within the Lorong Halus area, to prepare the ground for the arrival of the large TBM.

CP4 – Punggol (Contract P105)
In a nutshell: Works on the earth retaining and stabilising structures (ERSS) were in full swing on either side of the existing station complex. To the station's east, work was ongoing for the ERSS on the northern side, while to the west of the station work was focused on ERSS at the southern edge. Preparation appeared to be underway for an upcoming road diversion that would see the junction of Punggol Central and Punggol Place shifted northwards.
