P105 - Roadshow exhibition for upcoming footpath closures

13 March 2025 - A view of the exhibition boards at the roadshow to update commuters on the
upcoming footpath closures in the vicinity.

The contractor for contract P105 - Woh Hup Pte Ltd - recently held a roadshow over two days at the Punggol station to inform commuters of the upcoming footpath closures. Some of these footpath closures will come in tandem with road diversions to be implemented while others will be implemented in line with phased works for the new underground station.

13 March 2025 - Detail of information shown.

The first roadshow was held on 13 March 2025, while the second was held on 16 March 2025. Although there were many exhibition boards at the roadshow, ultimately all the boards showed the same information - 6 upcoming footpath closures commencing in March 2025 and progressively being introduced up to June 2025.
13 March 2025 - Phase 1 of footpath closures in early March 2025.

13 March 2025 - Phase 2 of footpath closures will see access from Exit B to Punggol Central
closed in late March due to ERSS construction works.

13 March 2025 - Phase 3 of footpath diversions and closures is anticipated in tandem with
the first road diversion around 20th April 2025.

13 March 2025 - Phase 4 of footpath closures will see the drop off point along Punggol Central
(Westbound) closed and shifted. The footpath here will also be closed.

13 March 2025 - Phase 5 of footpath diversions is anticipated to occur in tandem with the second
road diversion around 27th April 2025.

13 March 2025 - Phase 6 will see the closure of a footpath connecting Exit C with Punggol
Central. An alternative pathway will be available via the temporary Punggol Bus Interchange.

The first phase of footpath closures kicked in on 22 March 2025, with the closure of the linkway connecting Exit B of the MRT/LRT station to Punggol Central for earth retaining & stabilising structure (ERSS) works to commence ahead of the road diversion to be implemented in phase 5.

24 March 2025 - ERSS works underway for the diaphragm wall of the new station.

Over the next few months, two major road diversions of Punggol Central can be expected. The first will be to the west of the existing MRT/LRT station, anticipated in late April. This diversion will see Punggol Central pushed further southwards for ERSS works to commence along the northern edge of the station.

8 February 2025 - The first road diversion will see Punggol Central pushed further southwards,
likely occupying space within this worksite.

The second road diversion is anticipated to take place in late April as well, although a week after the first diversion on the western side of the MRT/LRT station. This diversion will take place on the station's eastern side and see Punggol Central shifted further north. With this, the existing cross-junction of Punggol Central and Punggol Place will be split into 2 separate T-junctions.

8 February 2025 - The second road diversion will likely occupy the site where the crane is located.

8 February 2025 - Part of the kerb for the new junction visible under construction.

24 March 2025 - Preparation works still underway at the site east of the MRT/LRT station.

24 March 2025 - Works in progress for the relocation of the junction between Punggol Central &
Punggol Place.
24 March 2025 - A view of the Pick-up & Drop-off point that will soon be demolished.

With the diversions and footpath closures, Punggol Central will look different for some time to come as ERSS works take place to construct the perimeter walls of the station. It will be some time yet before the road network returns to some semblance of normalcy.
