24 June 2023 - Renders of new entrances to be added north of Punggol Central.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) & contractor for contract P105, Woh Hup, is holding a roadshow exhibition at Punggol station today. Situated next to Exit A, it is right where the station connects to Waterway Point mall. If you're in the vicinity, they're there till 8pm today, so there's still time to head on down and check out the exhibit. You might be able to get a magnet souvenir as well, provided that there's still stock available.

The exhibits served to introduce the Punggol interchange station, its layout and expected upcoming works in the near-term. According to the team at the roadshow, preparatory work is expected to take up till end of the year, where the real works to actually build the station will take off. Right now land clearing & utility diversion works are in progress.
At the roadshow, a video showing the station's exterior and interior was also played for residents to visualize how the station will look once completed. The Cross Island Line (CRL) will feature side platforms built beneath the existing North East Line (NEL). According to the team, provisions were already built into the NEL station to allow future connections as most may know - these were for the then named Northshore Line. A 40m by 40m box exists beneath the NEL platforms which will allow the CRL station to connect seamlessly, much like how MacPherson's Downtown Line station already had provisions at the Circle Line station box for future connection.

According to the team, escalators on either end of the NEL platform will connect commuters with the CRL platforms just 1 level below. The existing elevator shafts will be lowered by a further level to also allow barrier-free access and connectivity between the lines. Staircases to either CRL platform will be built between the existing elevators serving the NEL. All in all, the transfer will be a paid-link without commuters having to tap-out to transfer.
15 July 2020 - Escalators will be added here at the northern end of the NEL platforms. These will connect to the eastbound CRL platform.
15 July 2020 - Escalators at the southern end of the NEL platform will be added here, on either side and below the existing pair connecting to the NEL concourse level. These will connect to the westbound (terminating) CRL platform.
15 July 2020 - Staircases connecting to either platform will be located between the 2 sets of existing elevators at the NEL platform.
24 June 2023 - Project site office under construction. The Project Information Centre will be located next to it, nearer to the LRT tracks.
Work is currently underway to construct the project site office. The Project Information Centre (PIC) will be located here as well, nearer to the LRT tracks and likely to be separate from the site offices. Similar exhibits about the Cross Island Line Punggol Extension (CPE) will be available here, with other phases of the line having their own respective PICs. Do stay tuned for more information pertaining to the PICs when available.
This post will also be available on Instagram & Facebook at a later time.
