Over at contract CR113, work has been picking up speed with the preparation of several sites completed and moving onto site set up with equipment being moved in. This contract is for the construction of Serangoon North station and does not involve any tunneling works, which will be carried out by neighbouring contracts CR112 to the east and CR115 to the west. The station itself occupies a fairly long site, with the eventual station stretching for about 700m, it is undoubtedly one of the longest stations and will involve a complex construction.

The site at the town centre has been set up to allow betonite silos to be house there ahead of diaphragm wall construction works. The eventual station will feature 5 exits, of which one will be located at the town centre area. This exit - number 1 - is likely to be the main entry and exit point for the station. The cooling tower is likely to be integrated on top of the station exit here.

At other areas along the station footprint, work is ongoing to prepare the various stretches for construction work. Following the diversion of utilities and services, work can begin on the station retaining walls. Before this commences, noise insulation barriers will be constructed to minimise noise disturbances to residents living next to the work sites.

One of the key activities was the opening of a street-level pedestrian crossing to replace the pedestrian overhead bridge (POB). This crossing has been since commissioned and the POB since closed to pedestrian access. Work has been going on to dismantle the shelter before the bridge is entirely demolished to make way for traffic diversions and other construction works.
