This past week, excavation works commenced at Hougang station as part of works to install diaphragm walls (d-walls) to support station construction works. As part of the works, the hydrofraise machine is used to lower down the vertical cutters which rotate to remove soil. The excavated area is prevented from collapsing through the use of betonite slurry, a dense liquid that is pumped in by the machine from storage reservoirs. Meanwhile, works are on-going to expand the relocate and expand bus stops along Hougang Avenue 10 ahead of the upcoming closure of Hougang Central (Minor) on 28 August 2022. As several bus routes will be affected by the closure of this short route, the bus stops are being lengthened to cater for additional buses calling at the stops.

Other works are also continuing along Hougang Central (Major) as a traffic diversion is expected to occur some time soon - probably in conjunction with the closure of Hougang Central (Minor). Two bus stops along the eastbound lanes of the roadway had been shifted earlier in July. It is noted that works now have included excavation of soil to create a new roadway where the bus stop used to sit previously.
