Q1 of 2024 has seen work at Ang Mo Kio station ramping up ahead of more modifications to the existing North-South Line (NSL) station. Diaphragm wall construction work has commenced near the existing NSL station as well, ahead of the planned switch over to diaphragm wall construction along the northern side of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 in the later half of the year.

Recently, the project team for contract CR116 for the construction of the Cross Island Line (CRL)'s Ang Mo Kio station has also come on board the Telegram train. A Telegram channel was launched to keep residents updated - a little late to the game, but better late than never! Scan the QR code above to join in the Telegram channel and be kept in the know on construction progress. A newsletter was also distributed through the Telegram channel, which can be read here.

Diaphragm wall construction began on the paid transfer linkway next to the existing NSL station in Q1. The transfer linkway also incorporates 2 exits - Exit 2 at street level where the location of the former Exit D was & Exit 6 at the second level which will connect to an active mobility pathway. A hydrofraise machine was delivered to the site that makes use of gripping technology to enable the machine to cut through the dense, hard rock that may be encountered on site.

As part of works to link the existing NSL station with the new CRL station, Exit D was due to be closed. The exit's closure would allow for works to build a paid transfer linkway to proceed, in addition to creating a replacement exit (Exit 2) and adding a future exit (Exit 6) at the second level that would connect to an active mobility pathway. Works at the existing station included widening Exit B to accommodate a higher load of commuters coming into the station via this alternate route.

increased commuter loads.

Works continued to proceed over at various other sites for Exit 8, 9 and along the southern edge of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 for the main station box. The site for Exit 7, next to AMK Hub however, still remained untouched as of Q1.

Diaphragm wall works are about mid-way through as of Q1 and the northern half of the station box will need to be constructed. It is anticipated that the switchover will take place in the later half of the year, with Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 shifting further south, nearer to the HDB blocks 424 & 425. We'll be sure to bring you updates when that happens - do stay tuned for our continued updates even as we wrap up coverage of the various CRL sites over Q1.
