Contract CR206 was the fifth civil contract awarded for the Cross Island Line (CRL)'s phase 2 following the contracts for the large diameter single bored tunnel through the nature reserve, King Albert Park, Clementi & West Coast stations. The award of the contract was announced in end-January this year, with works expected to commence in Q2 of the year. The site has been used thus far for contract CR2016, which is an advanced works contract to relocate utility lines and pipes. The remainder of these works still appear to be going on at the main site of the station's location.

However, further south along Clementi Road at the site of the former Corona Florists, work is underway to demolish some of the structures to repurpose the area as a site office for the contract. The area used to be a nursery selling plants on the side of the hill. Part of the site housed a murky, muddy pond and had several areas where plants were propped up in rows or sat on sections of concrete bases for display in large terracotta pots.

The florist has since closed business with the site being marked as "Permanently Closed" on Google Maps. Excavators have moved in to clear the site for the project's site offices. It is from here that the project team will work to supervise the construction of the Maju station nearby.

The works to clear the Corona Florists site marks the commencement of construction at yet another CRL2 worksite. In time to come, the area will transform drastically before the line sees its completion in a mere 8 years' time.
