Over the past quarter, the major development over at Teck Ghee has been the road diversion of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6. The diversion saw the roadway shifted further west to allow bored piling works to commence on the eastern side of the site. Along with the road diversion came a re-sizing of the roadway with each carriageway now only having 2 lanes instead of the 3 used formerly. When viewed from an aerial vantage point, the changes are quite apparent.

The approximate location of Exits 5 & 6 is where the road diversion has seen the roadway swing further west. Over the course of the past quarter, preparation works were underway to backfill soil over the roof slab of the expressway tunnels. Compacted soil was overlaid with a layer of crushed stone before the roadway was finally paved over. In mid-June, the roadway was swung over on a weekend. Work to mobilise machinery for the resumption of bored piling works began shortly after the road diversion was completed.

With the road diversion in place, works will resume on bored piling for the western wall of the site. These works require round-the-clock construction for safety reasons to avoid sinkholes and collapse of the excavated pile. As such, residents may have to endure a period of noise for approximately another year while these works are carried out. Once the roof slab on this side can be cast, it is likely that excavation will continue below the slab, minimise noise generated from the site.
