With the award of contract CR207 for tunnels between Maju and Clementi stations in August, all civil contracts across the Cross Island Line (CRL)'s phases 1, 2 and Punggol extension have been awarded. Work on phase 1 and the Punggol extension were well underway while works along phase 2 were at different stages owing to the contract award progress.

Phase 1
As the first phase of the line to be announced, work is several years into construction now. Earth retaining & stabilising system (ERSS) works have been underway and are partially completed at most stations. Tunneling work is also underway for contracts CR102, CR105 and CR109, which have since launched tunnel boring machines (TBM)s - underground mobile factories that excavate and construct tunnels simultaneously.

Changi East Depot (Contract CR101)
In a nutshell: Stabling yard columns were seen aplenty at the edge of the depot site. Elsewhere, casting of the base structure and base of the columns to support the roof were underway.
