TAVISTOCK PARK, Singapore - The Land Transport Authority (LTA) together with contractor Sato Kogyo on Saturday afternoon, held a mini-exhibition at Tavistock Park for residents in the area. With an aim to educate the residents on the upcoming works for the station, several exhibits detailing various aspects of the construction were set up at one of the pavilions within the park. A sizeable crowd was noted at the beginning of the exhibition, with several participants interacting with LTA staff who were carrying A3 sized print outs to explain the stages of construction to attentive residents.

CR112 - D-wall excavation commences

trench.

This past week, excavation works commenced at Hougang station as part of works to install diaphragm walls (d-walls) to support station construction works. As part of the works, the hydrofraise machine is used to lower down the vertical cutters which rotate to remove soil. The excavated area is prevented from collapsing through the use of betonite slurry, a dense liquid that is pumped in by the machine from storage reservoirs. CR108 - Checking in at Pasir Ris

It's been a few months since we last came by here. Things are definitely ramping up with so much going on at the site. Machines coming in, set up work going on, reconfiguration works and exit & road closures are all in full effect. The construction site can be broken into about 3 smaller zones - along Pasir Ris Drive 8, Pasir Ris Central & Pasir Ris Street 51.

CRL2 - Speculated Station Locations

As it has been more than 2 years since Cross Island Line (CRL) Punggol Extension was announced, we are expecting news of the next phase of the line to be announced this year. With an expected completion date of 2032, we foresee tenders for advanced contracts to be published soon. Earlier in June, pre-qualifications for 8 contracts for the second phase of the line were called for.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) also published the latest Long-Term Plan in June 2022 which showed the notional full alignment of the CRL. By overlaying the long-term plan map over a geographic map, we were able to collaborate the supporting data and information with the latest sightings of soil investigation works to compile a list of probable station locations for the CRL2 section. This section of the CRL will continue from the tunnel section directly crossing below the Central Catchment Nature Reserve (CCNR), and ends at Jurong Lake District.

We expect that there will be a total of 6 stations in this section, which stretches over 15km consisting of 5km below the CCNR, and 10km of tunnels between the 6 stations.

CR112 - Upcoming bus route amendments

 

28 July 2022 - The hydrofraise machine boom lifted into vertical position. This machine will be
used to dig trenches for the construction of diaphragm walls to enable excavation of the station box.

Things are starting to get busy at Hougang Cross Island Line (CRL) station site. Today, the hydrofraise machine was lifted into vertical position, marking a step closer to the construction of diaphragm walls for the station. It also means that we are a step closer to the eventual closure of Hougang Central (Minor). This is a stretch of road linking Hougang Central (Major) and Hougang Avenue 10, roughly parallel to the upcoming station. In view of this, there will be amendments to bus services that use Hougang Central (Minor) as detailed by operator SBS Transit today.

CR116 - Ang Mo Kio station renders

Recently while searching online, the team came across several renders of the Ang Mo Kio interchange station. As expected, major works are anticipated ahead of the station's construction. Several more exits will be added to the station complex, including a bridge parallel to the existing MRT line that will have active mobility features included.
