17 October 2022 - A notice by SBS Transit on the upcoming bus service route amendments due to the closure of Pasir Ris Drive 1. |
Its about 2 weeks to go till Pasir Ris Drive 1 is closed to facilitate the construction of Pasir Ris East station on the Cross Island Line (CRL). In our previous update, we posted on the circular issued by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) but noted that there was no information as yet about the bus route diversions. SBS Transit first posted about the diversions on Monday, 17 October. This was soon followed by LTA & Go-Ahead Singapore. Do check out the poster by LTA below.

This is the second time where bus routes are diverted due to road closures along the first phase of CRL construction. Previously in August, a section of Hougang Central was closed to road traffic, resulting in a detour for some buses whilst others skipped stops. The resulting diversion for Pasir Ris East is far simpler with all bus routes being diverted onto Pasir Ris Streets 11 and 12, calling at a pair of replacement bus stops.
And there is good news too. LTA has stated that even though the diversion will cause marginal increases to the distance travelled, there will be no fare increases stemming from this diversion that will be passed on to commuters. That's rightfully so - as the amendment to the route is not a result of the commuters' choice but due to circumstances beyond their control. Nonetheless it is a step of goodwill on LTA's part to make up for the additional inconveniences endured by residents in the area. We wish the team & residents a speedy & safe construction - may it be over before you even know!
