SERANGOON NORTH - Last Saturday, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and contractor for contract CR113 - Hock Lian Seng - held a roadshow for residents. The roadshow sought to provide information to residents of the scope and benefits of the project and anticipated works across the different phases of work.

Contract CR113 is for the construction of Serangoon North station. The connecting tunnels to the east will be built under neighbouring contract CR112 whereas those to the west will be built under contract CR115. Most of the station will be built by the cut & cover method, an exception being the subway connecting exit 4 outside Bowen Secondary School, which will use mined tunneling methods. The station will have 5 exits located along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 and one along Hougang Avenue 2. Of these, three exits - numbered 2 through 4 - will be located on the northern side of the station. The remaining 2 will be located to the station's south.

Works on site have commenced with the site office taking shape at the junction of Hougang Avenue 2 and Yio Chu Kang Road.

Turn out for the roadshow was pretty decent, with residents excitedly taking photos of the exhibit panels and asking the contractor and LTA staff questions on the upcoming works. In addition, a video of the station flythrough was being played for residents to catch a glimpse of the station's layout and how it will look in several years to come.
