Construction works have come to Ang Mo Kio with site clearing underway. Several amenities, such as the ramp at the nearby HDB blocks and staircases within the Ang Mo Kio Town Garden East have been demolished to make way for construction. Within the existing North-South Line (NSL) station, reconfiguration works have commenced as well.

The construction work for contract CR116 also includes the construction of tunnels west to Teck Ghee station. An intermediate launch shaft is located in the former empty field next to blocks 324 & 325. Works are currently ongoing for the installation of the diaphragm walls ahead of excavation.

Several stores that used to line the NSL station's eastern side have since been closed and hoarded up. This signals the start of works to prepare the station for its reconfiguration as it transitions to being an interchange station. The paid transfer connection will be located between the existing station and the town garden site, utilizing the current Exit D. The fare line is expected to be moved as well.

With construction works gaining momentum, residents can expect some detours around the vicinity. A staircase leading to the traffic junction across the existing station was to have been closed on 7th November, a day after our visit. Notices informing residents of the impending closure were noted on site.

Additionally, due to the construction of the Cross Island Line (CRL) station exits, some parts of the pedestrian and cycling paths below the MRT viaduct will need to be relocated. A video posted by a renderer shows some of the upcoming works that may be implemented.

Works are in full swing at Ang Mo Kio CRL station site. We look forward to watching how the site progresses in time to come - journey along with us as we bring you updates as the site changes over time.
