Contract CR3018

Thanks to an eagle-eyed IG follower of ours, @linhsu88, we were informed that the Land Transport Authority had floated contract CR3018 for tender last week. The delivery date for the contract, whose tender closes in May 2024, is March 2027. We did some digging over the weekend and found that previously, there was a similar contract awarded for the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Contract J1018 was for Earthworks and Associated Works. Sounds familiar? We've got more to share.

Contract J1018 entailed the earthworks for the future Tengah depot of the JRL - eventual civil contract for the depot was contract J101 - and was floated for tender in 2017. Based on the dates that we had recorded back then (long story, but some of the subsequent data was lost), we've come up with a rough timeline.

Based on the past pattern observed, we've made some educated guesses:

  1. Contract CR3018 may likely be for earthworks at the future western depot of the Cross Island Line (CRL).
  2. The civil works contract for the CRL western depot may be numbered CR301.
  3. Based on the comparative timeline for contract J1018, it may be indicative of CRL3 being announced in a year or two.
DO note that these are largely educated guesses based on past observed trends and other information to support this analysis is not available.

CRL3 is set to be the final phase of the CRL, continuing from Jurong Lake District station and ending the line at Gul Circle. The western depot of the line is to be located next to the Singapore Rail Test Centre and it would not be surprising if there were some tracks connecting the two facilities together.

This is a blog-only post.
