The contract to build Clementi interchange along the Cross Island Line (CRL) was awarded to a joint venture between China Communications Construction Company & Sinohydro Corporation in Q4 2023, together with contract CR205 for King Albert Park. The press release for the award of both contracts, the one for Clementi being contract CR208, stated that works for both were due to commence by Q1 2024. True to the press release's word, works for both contracts have begun. More after the jump.

We understand that the contract to construct Clementi station is just for the station box and associated fit out works as well as integration with the existing East-West Line (EWL) station. The CRL station will add 3 new exits to the existing Clementi station's reach - located along Commonwealth Avenue West just outside Clementi Cascadia, along Clementi Avenue 4 outside block 320 and another at the site of the former Clementi Police Division HQ.

Location of soil investigation & trial trenching work to be conducted.

Current works underway are for the demolition of the former Clementi Police Division HQ and neighbourhood police post building, which was vacated at the end of last year. The Police Division HQ has since shifted into the former ITE College West (Clementi) facility at Lempeng Drive. Besides that, works are also commencing for soil investigations and trial trenching, similar to the works observed at King Albert Park. With the plot of land at the junctions of Clementi Avenues 4 and 5 formerly occupied by HDB blocks now cleared, we expect that this site will be handed over to the contractor as part of the construction site to be used for staging works and the site office potentially.
