Since our last visit to Pasir Ris East following the closure of a section of Pasir Ris Drive 1 to facilitate construction works, there have not been too many changes. Work is mostly still at a site preparation phase with trees mostly still intact. The closed section of roadway has temporary metal barriers placed to keep pedestrians off the street while work goes on. Jersey barriers can be seen at the site as set up works continue.

In 2023, noise barriers can be expected to go up parallel to the existing layout of the closed section of road. Trees will also begin to make way for the eventual excavation and piling work to be done. As the station will likely use a top-down method of construction, earth retaining & stabilising structures will need to be constructed around the perimeter of the excavation site. From here, the top-most layer of soil can be excavated before the roof slab is cast to aid with the stability of the excavation site. Thereafter, excavation works will proceed until the next level is reached.

These excavation works, however, are still some time away as there remains a heavy load of work to be done before then. In the meantime, do keep checking in as we attempt to cover most of the rail construction sites to wrap up the year.
