CR116 - Ang Mo Kio 2022 year-end update

Contract CR116 is for the construction of Ang Mo Kio interchange with the existing North-South Line (NSL) station and connecting tunnels towards Teck Ghee station. Site clearing is in progress and hoarding has been put up at the work sites for exits 6, 7 and 8. The work sites for exits 5 and 9 have yet to be hoarded up though. As part of the construction work, exits 1 and 2 will be reconfigured, hence a lot of work is taking place within the town garden next to the existing NSL station.

Tunneling works will be supported through an intermediate launch shaft located at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenues 3 and 6. Work is currently underway to construct the retaining walls for the shaft, following which excavation can take place. The tunnel boring machines (TBMs) will be used to tunnel towards Teck Ghee station before being reset to build the tunnels from the intermediate launch shaft to Ang Mo Kio station. It is expected that an enclosure will be built over the shaft to reduce excessive noise for the residents.
